NETprotocol Bring Secure, Verifiable Data Erasure Software to UK Law Firms
Partnership Between NETprotocol and Blancco Technology Group Aims to Mitigate Security Risks and Prevent Data Breaches, While Also Driving Compliance with Data Privacy Regulations such as EU GDPR
May 3, 2017, Leeds, UK – NETprotocol today announced that it has been signed as a Service Provider partner for Blancco Technology Group (AIM: BLTG), the de facto standard in data erasure and mobile device diagnostics. Through the partnership, NETprotocol will market and sell the Blancco Data Eraser solutions to enterprise businesses in the United Kingdom, particular in the legal sector. The primary goal of the partnership is to help UK law firms better manage data across the entire lifecycle, while also mitigating their data security risks and ensuring compliance to data privacy regulations.
Data security incidents at law firms have risen significantly in recent years – climbing by nearly 20 percent between 2014-2015 and 2015-2016, according to PwC’s 25th Annual Law Firms Survey. Meanwhile, 41 percent of law firms that suffered security incidents resulted from internal threats (i.e. staff). Meanwhile, the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) investigated 173 law firms over data protection issues in 2014, further proving the urgent need for data erasure solutions.
With the Blancco Data Eraser Solutions, legal organisations can permanently erase data from all IT assets and environments – be it in an active environment, when equipment hits end-of-life or customers/regulations demand it. In addition, Blancco Management Console enables businesses to keep track of and store the digitally signed certificates of erasure performed across all IT assets. This tamper-proof certificate of erasure also proves valuable to organisations looking to comply with the most stringent state, federal or international data privacy, regulations and guidelines, including EU General Data Protection Regulation, PCI DSS, HIPAA, ISO27001 and ISO 27040.
“This is a complex issue and with compliance to EU GDPR being mandatory as of May 25, 2018, it will be critical for law firms to develop a comprehensive data management strategy that includes defined processes for data discovery, review, retention and removal when data is no longer needed,” said Mike Batters, Technical Director, NETprotocol. “With the Blancco Data Eraser solutions, we can help law firms not only permanently erase sensitive data at various stages of its lifecycle, but also provide certified proof that the data cannot be recovered.”
“We’re thrilled to partner with NETprotocol to help UK law firms improve their data management practices, particularly in the area of erasing data when it’s no longer needed or must be erased in accordance with data privacy regulations,” said Steve Holton, President and CRO of Blancco Technology Group. “NETprotocol understands the pain points of law firms exceptionally well and is dedicated to improving data protection within the UK.”
“Blancco Technology Group is the world leader in the data erasure space and is a natural fit for the consultative approach NETprotocol adopt,” concluded NETprotocol’s Mike Batters. “We are seeing huge interest in this area among law firms and are keen to demonstrate how the Blancco Data Eraser solutions can prevent data loss/theft, reduce the likelihood of data breaches and ensure compliance with the growing number of data privacy laws.”
