Meet the Directors
With a national client base, NETprotocol is led by three of the most experienced Legal technology experts in the UK. Having formed enviable partnerships with some of the world’s leading vendors over many years, they combine their technical expertise and industry knowledge to create bespoke, high performance IT solutions which place a focus on providing a clear and measurable return on investment for clients.
Mike Batters, Co-Founder & Technical Director
As Co-Founder and Technical Director, Mike Batters launched NETprotocol with partner Paul Walker in 2000 with a vision to providing Managed IT Services to Legal organisations. 17 years later....
...our core business heavily revolves around sourcing and developing technology solutions for law firms. Over this time, Mike has developed a genuine enjoyment and unique ability for predicting and overcoming the technology challenges presented by the modern day legal sector.
With the success of any business becoming increasingly dependent on the effective deployment of technology, Mike prides himself on staying at the forefront of the IT sector. His focus remains set on offering added value to each client, enabling them to keep ahead of their competition through working as efficiently as possible.
Its an exciting and dynamic time for the Legal market as IoT’s, Cloud and Mobility drive change in the legal landscape and there is nothing more that Mike loves, than advising our clients on how technology can support them in driving forward their future strategic direction.
Tech geek, gadget geek and keen cyclist (he completed the Manchester to London cycle ride for charity recently) Mike is always up for a challenge. When he finds time to relax, he is usually travelling somewhere nice and spending time with the family.
Paul Walker, Co-Founder & Managing Director
Having set up in partnership with Mike in 2000 to launch NETprotocol, Paul had at that point worked in Legal IT since 1989, coming from a background in the....
Offshore Oil and Gas industry originally. The consultative approach Paul has worked so hard to instill within our business is what has enabled NETprotocol to build such a broad portfolio of long standing relationships with some of the UK's top legal, education and professional services firms nationwide.
In his role, Paul assists with the strategic direction of clients and their evolving business needs whether that be a small boutique legal firm or 1000+ User Corporate. We remain to be a technically led business due to the intricate IT knowledge Paul and Mike are able to offer from the top, filtering this down throughout the business. In particular, due to Paul's daily involvement with supporting clients, he has built up an in depth understanding of the complexities of their differing needs and challenges.
Infact, 'remaining actively involved with clients on a day to day basis is the most enjoyable part my job', Paul tells us, always keen to add value to their strategic IT decision making process if possible!
On a personal note, Paul is club chairman of Rothwell FC of which NETprotcol are proud sponsors, with any other spare time being spent enjoying life with family and friends.
Matt Widdowson, Commercial Director
Matt has been in the IT industry for over 20 years and joined NETprotocol in 2012. Responsible for the sales growth and new business development, he believes the only way to fulfill his role successfully is by....
....working in close partnership with our clients to enable them to achieve their strategic goals and objectives in the most effective way possible.
Over many years, Matt has developed great relationships with a leading range of technology vendors which helps our broad and loyal client base leverage the wider benefits of NETprotocol’s services. It has become common place for these vendors to recommend NETprotocol in new customer opportunities, having gained a reputation as a trusted and “safe pair of hands” for designing, deploying and delivering cutting edge, reliable and tailor made IT solutions for clients from 50 - 1000+ users.
From specific niche technology implementations through to managed service contracts, Matt works relentlessly to understand the bespoke needs of each client, ensuring they realise optimum benefit for their investment every time. Over his time at NETprotocol, he has developed a proposition which offers each client an extension to their in-house skills and resource, which can be used flexibly and entirely trusted to meet expectations.
Having 3 children keeps him equally as busy at home, enjoying spending time with the family, holidays (UK and in the sunshine) football, walking the dogs (...and life in general!). For anyone that has had the privilege of getting to know Matt, it is likely they will know he has a great sense of humour and is also partial to enjoying the odd cold beer!
