Dell Server Firmware Carries Spyware
Dell has issued a warning to customers using its PowerEdge R410 Rack server that there may be spyware within its embedded systems management software.
In an astounding admission, Dell has told clients who have contacted them that it may take more than ten working days for a service call to rectify the issue, potentially leaving systems in a vulnerable state. Dell have not released or discussed any technical details of the spyware/malware involved, or how it came to be present, but state that they will be contacting customers directly by phone and letter.
