Token
Based Authentication adds a third layer of security by requiring an
additional piece of information to authenticate a user. This third
piece of information is a "one time password" generated
by a "Token".
This
additional security allows organisations to securely open particular
ports on a firewall, such as a CyberGuard,
without compromising network security. These ports can then be used
to allows remote users to securely gain access to internal resources
without the need for a pre-configured VPN client, which is the most
commonly used alternative method of delivering remote access.
Practical
implementations include access to:
Microsoft
Outlook Web Access Client
Citrix
Metaframe (NFUSE)
Lotus
Domino
Vasco Authentication will soon be extended to cover
Windows Domain authentication, requiring users to log in with username,
password and Token number to access their workstation.
When CyberGuard
and Vasco technologies are combined it is possible to allow secure
access to almost any network resources without the need for specifically
configured client machines.
Vasco Tokens have both Remote Access
and Banking Authentication implementations. Below are just three
examples of Remote Access Authentication Tokens.
