Disaster Recovery Solutions

Disaster Recovery Options

NETprotocol provides several different options for Disaster Recovery to suit many different types of disaster. Many different situations can be classified as a disaster and dependant on the requirements backup systems can be implemented to deal with every eventuality.

A single server failure can be a disaster for a company if that server is mission critical and all users reply on it. Central File & Print servers or E-Mail servers fit in to the "mission critical" category for most organisations as without access to documents and e-mails many users cannot carry out their daily work. There are different way of protecting against single server failure and in many cases "Server Clusters" are used to provide continuous service even in the event of a server failure. A "Server Cluster" is made of two or more machines transparently acting as a single server. The advantage of this is that if a member of the Cluster fails the remaining server(s) will take over the role of providing the services.

Many organisations feel the need to prepare for disasters of a more serious nature, such as fire or explosion, disabling ALL central server equipment. In this scenario scaled down replicas of all the key servers can be provided in a secondary location to allow all the key users and many others to continue working. To achieve this level of disaster recovery suitable locations are required to house the backup servers and a method of keeping all data syncronised is essential.

To achieve real-time data replication NETprotocol implements Veritas Storage Replicator which is capable of monitoring large data stores and replicating changes in real-time to remote servers & locations. This allows organisations to be confident that in the event of a disaster all the data will be in place on the secondary servers and users will be able to carry on working with little disruption.
For more information on Veritas Storage Replicator click here or complete the contact form if you would like to discuss Disaster Recovery and Replication Solutions with a member of NETprotocol's team.

Disaster Recovery plans can be anything from a single standby server to a replica of an entire office complete with Desks, Chairs, PCs, Phones, etc. The type of Disaster Recovery plan is dictated by the organisations need to keep functioning under any circumstances and the amount of investment planned. NETprotocol can assist in the design and implementation of the smallest Disaster Recovery plans to the largest replica systems each, giving both the organisation, insurers and clients peace of mind.
